Cutting Ties is now officially available just about everywhere!
It’s on iTunes.
It’s on CD Baby.

It’s probably available in a bunch more places I don’t know about!
And of course, wherever I’m performing, I’ll have copies with me.
I hope you enjoy it!

Cutting Ties EP Release
My friends, the work is finally complete on the upcoming Acoustic EP, and I am thrilled to announce that I’m releasing it on Wednesday, August 13th at the Mayne Stage in Chicago…
Mixing is complete, and mastering should be done by next weekend.
I look forward to sharing the new work with all of you. Joining me that night will be my good friends in Common Shiner (who will also be premiering their new video that evening), and the amazing Brittany Moffitt. I have known both acts well for several years now, and believe me when I tell you that the 13th is going to be filled with as much talent as the Mayne Stage can hold…
See you there!

Happily Ever After…
They say that if you’re good at something, never do it for free.
I say, if something makes you happy, find a way to share it with as many people as possible.
This song never really wanted to be on an album, so I let it stand on its own. It’s free if you want. You can pay for it if you want. What I want is for people to let it into their lives. This song is special to me, and my hope is that I will never be the only person who can say that.
Enjoy, my friends. And spread the word if you please.

Where are my Dragons!?
With a name like The Throne Room, there was no way I was going to pass up the opportunity to tie in GOT.
We’re thrilled to not only be helping to open Lakeview/Lincoln Park’s newest music venue, but to be doing so with our friends in Jackpot Donnie. Doors are at 7:30 this Saturday the 31st. We play first at 8:30 sharp.
Although, seriously. Where are my dragons?
International success
So I’m home after about a week and a half traveling around the UK. I can’t even express how amazing a time it was – London was wonderful, Edinburgh and Fife were exceptionally lovely, and Glasgow treated me kindly.
Three shows in three nights in Glasgow, and I feel like I could have played for another three more without thinking. All of the artists who joined me were incredibly talented, and so very welcoming. I hope to see them all again, be it on this side of the pond or the other.
So thank you again to Peter Quinn, who shared the stage with me the final night, and Mick, who helped to set up the other two evenings.
Now, to get ready for the next string of shows that will take me and the New Black through Illinois and Wisconsin for the … Read More »
UK Tour
It’s true! My first ever international set of shows! Thank you to Peter and Mick for helping me out. I’m looking forward to seeing what Scotland has to say about me…
Jeff Brown & the New Black at the Metro
No, seriously, like THE Metro.
I’m not going to sit here and pretend like this isn’t a giant deal to me. Because it is. And I want to share it with all of you.
We’re playing my favorite venue in the city of Chicago. The first music venue I ever walked into* when I was 18 years old and starting a new life in this city I call home.
The most recent incarnation of my music, dubbed The New Black, will be performing on Friday, March 21st. Doors open at 7:30, and the show starts at 8pm. We hit the stage promptly at 8:45. The Metro is very on time. Very very on time.
Joining us are my friends in Hero Monster Zero, as well as fellow CAUDog Records act The Lost Brigade, Cathy Greenholdt, and Magatha Trysty.
All of this can be yours for … Read More »
Brand new surprise EP
As you may know, I’ve been working since last year on an Acoustic EP. My drummer had recently moved to LA, so I found myself sans percussion. My focus turned both to finding a replacement and also to my quieter, more acoustic material.
So I began a solo EP of songs that didn’t need the full band treatment.
And then I started a project at work that kept me real busy for about seven months.
So now I’m just about done with the tracking process of my upcoming Acoustic EP, but in the meantime, I’m releasing a surprise EP recorded earlier this month in Madison over two and a half days of subzero temperatures. It’s called Madison or Bust, and I’m releasing it on my birthday today!
You can get it from my bandcamp site for only $5 (or more if you feel so … Read More »
Madison or Bust
I’m excited to announce that next week I will be traveling to Madison, WI to record with Julia McConahay at Deerpath Studios. Where will these recordings go? Who knows! Maybe an EP, maybe the beginnings of a new album, maybe hidden away in the crevices of my external hard drive with hundreds of Mb of other recordings. Either way, I’m excited to make my way up there (although whose idea was it to go in winter?)
Updates to come!
